Archival Desires is a work about collecting and reinterpreting ornaments from early printed books and examining how they can create friction, deepen the reading and evoke an emotional experience.
In contrast to an everyday life with an abundance of technology and information, these books require me to spend time to understand the content. They raise questions in me about what visual communication can be and what it can do. They create an interest in marking an essential point of visual communication and anchoring me in our visual heritage. I use the ornaments as a stepping stone in my own exploration.
The book documents my search, my reflections and my revelation.
